2024 TIO CAFL Finals Week One Fixture Locked In

CAFL Finals

The 2024 TIO Central Australian Football League (CAFL) finals fixture has been finalised for week one following the thrilling conclusion of Round 18. The round showcased remarkable performances, tight contests, and impressive team efforts across both men’s and women’s divisions.

In a nail-biting finish, Alkamilya secured a narrow three-point victory over Pioneer, despite the Eagles’ late surge. Kaitlyn Armstrong continued her phenomenal form, adding another eight goals to her tally in what initially looked like a commanding win for Alkamilya.

Alongside Armstrong, standout performances from Rebecca Denyer, Kahlishia Rioli, and Shaniya Cooper ensured a substantial 39-point lead at three-quarter time.

However, the final quarter saw Pioneer mount a significant comeback with Ella Fitz, Esther Arabie, and Samantha Hoogeveen-Hill combining to kick six goals. Despite Alkamilya's struggle to add to their tally, the Eagles' late push fell short, and Alkamilya emerged victorious in a dramatic finish.

The Rovers season concluded on a high note as they finished undefeated after a decisive win over Federal. Rover’s Montanna Hudson and Ebony Abbott-McCormack each contributed four goals, supported by Doreena Hansen and captain Delsey Campbell, who both added three goals. Brooke Schembri excelled in the ruck contest, while Rania Shelford and captain Lara Harding delivered outstanding performances.

Federal's squad was notably impacted by the absence of NT Talent Academy product Danika McDonald. Despite this, Alana Chalmers and Charlotte Rudd stepped up impressively to fill the gap.

West also closed their season with a comfortable victory against Souths. Lucie Burnod was named best on ground with a standout three-goal performance, while Jessica Harnischfeger added two goals. Georgia Calub and Meg McGuiness were both instrumental, each contributing a goal.

Souths’ captain Nakaiya Clarke, despite the team’s final match of the season, displayed commendable resilience and continued to fight until the end.

In a dramatic round of Men’s matches, Souths emerged victorious in a high-scoring affair that saw an astounding 32 goals between the two teams. The match showcased remarkable offensive prowess from both sides, with Souths ultimately prevailing in a spectacle of fast-paced football.

West’s midfielders Jordan Bailey and Tanner Coulthard played pivotal roles throughout the game, while Joshua Johnny and Joel Williams each contributed three goals to their team’s efforts. Despite their valiant performance, it was Souths' standout players who made the most significant impact. Orlando Turner, a strong contender for the 2024 Minahan Medal, and captain Michael Tilmouth-Turner both delivered exceptional performances, solidifying their team's victory.

In another key clash, Federal secured the minor premiership with a commanding win over the Rovers. Abraham Ankers continued his impressive form, contributing a goal and playing a crucial role in the midfield. Robby Bartee was a standout forward, netting five goals, supported by Dane Sampson with three goals and Hugh Herben and Connor Mullins, who each added two goals to the tally.

Federal’s timely surge in form has positioned them as formidable contenders as they aim to defend their premiership title.

The Rover’s, while unable to secure the win, had notable performances from Travis King, who scored two goals, and NTFL Southern Districts star Stanley Waistcoat, who could prove to be a significant player in the upcoming finals series.
