South Australia and GWS Giants Academy claimed title wins at the 2024 Marsh AFL National Development Championships – U16 Girls.
South Australia took out the Pool A title by winning both games in the round-robin series. Brisbane Lions Academy, Victoria Country, Western Australia and Victoria Metro all finished with a 1-1 record, while Gold Coast Suns Academy rounded out the Pool A ladder.
GWS Giants Academy claimed the Pool B title as the only undefeated side in the four-team pool. Sydney Swans Academy and Tasmania both won one of their two matches, while Northern Territory finished in fourth place.

BEST AND FAIREST AWARDS AND ALL-AUSTRALIAN TEAM
Brisbane Lions midfielder Molly Ferguson was crowned the Best and Fairest for Pool A, while GWS Giants Academy winger Darcie Prosser-Shaw was named the Best and Fairest in Pool B.
Ferguson was a prolific ball winner for across both matches for the Lions, averaging 30.5 disposals at 70 per cent efficiency. She also averaged 3.5 clearances and four tackles and was named vice-captain of the All Australian team.
Prosser-Shaw averaged 21.5 disposals at 72 per cent efficiency. The composed and athletic midfielder also averaged four mackles, seven tackles and a goal each match.
The Best and Fairest awards were selected by a panel comprising Kevin Sheehan (AFL Talent Ambassador – Chair), Paul Hamilton (AFL National Talent Development & Competitions Manager), Jess Smith (AFL National Female Talent Manager) and AFLW club representatives Keegan Brooksby (Hawthorn), Flynn Loft (North Melbourne), Naomi Maidment (Port Adelaide) and Shae Sloane (Melbourne).
The panel also selected the 2024 Marsh AFL National Development Championships – U16 Girls All-Australian Team.
The All-Australian team features players from nine different teams. South Australia led the way with seven players selected, along with coach Bek McMahon. Brisbane Lions Academy, Victoria Country and Western Australia all had three representatives named.
South Australian defender Emily Mableson was selected as captain, with Pool A best and fairest Molly Ferguson from the Brisbane Lions Academy appointed vice-captain.
