AFLNT Statement: Breach of National Vilification and Discrimination Policy

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) advises that an independent Tribunal found a St Mary’s Football Club senior player guilty of breaching the AFL’s National Vilification and Discrimination Policy and have issued him with a five-match suspension.

Subsequently, an independent Appeals Panel dismissed St Mary’s attempt to have the original Tribunal decision overturned.

As per the AFL’s National Vilification and Discrimination Policy, all other details of the case are required to be kept confidential.

The AFL will consider how this penalty affects the National Player and Deregistration Policy in the coming days.

AFLNT will make no further comment on this matter and will publish an update in due course regarding any potential impact or lack of impact on player deregistration once known.
