Considered to be one of Central Australia’s finest administrators, Dean Newman is a football man through and through.

He first coached Rovers Football Club in 1966, was club secretary from 1963 to 1965, club treasurer 1963 to 1964 and became club president in 1967.

He then became CAFL President from 1970 to 1983, 14 years in all making him the CAFL’s longest serving president.

He coached the CAFL representative team on several occasions and he turned his hand to umpiring upon retirement.

Awarded the prestigious Harrison trophy in 1963, 1964 and 1967 he is also a CAFL Life Member and was inducted into the Rovers Hall of Fame in 2005.

Rovers Football Club and the CAFL have benefitted from the commitment and dedication displayed by Dean Newman for many decades and we are proud to welcome him into the AFLNT Hall of Fame.
