In a game now awash with statistics there is one stat which stands out above all others. It is John ‘KJ’ Taylor’s astounding win/loss ratio as coach of St Mary’s. Games coached 252, games won 229, and games lost? A meager 23!

Taylor’s tenure as Saints coach was a veritable flag fest, guiding his beloved Saints to an astounding 11 premierships over 14 years.

He coached Geelong Football League club St Peters to a premiership in 1981 and after moving North in 1983 he began his long and distinguished career as coach of Saint Mary’s.

Taylor was coach of the NT representative side an incredible 18 times winning the Division Two Bicentennial Carnival in 1988, a pivotal moment for NT Football.

Taylor was named coach of the ‘Back to Cyclone Tracy Team of Two Decades’ and received the illustrious NT Government award for Excellence in Sport in 1994 and 1996.

Awarded life membership of the NTFL in 1997 and the Australian Sports medal in 2000 we welcome into the AFLNT Hall of Fame a coach with an unrivalled record of success – John Taylor.
