A triple premiership player for the Brisbane Lions, Darryl White’s career began in Alice Springs where he played for Rovers and Pioneers. He played in the 1986 NT Primary team and in 1990 was named a Teal Cup All Australian.

In 1992 he represented the Northern Territory against Geelong, the same year his magnificent career for the Brisbane Lions began. Possessing a big vertical leap and sure hands, he proved to be a very versatile player.

Affectionately known as ‘Whitey’ he kicked 165 goals for the Lions between stints as a forward, defender, ruckman and mid fielder, making him a crowd favourite with the Gabba faithful where fans grew to instantly recognise his loping running style, his casual but pinpoint foot passing and his idiosyncratic pose after a mark. He played 268 games for his beloved Lions including an impressive 20 finals.

A valued member of the Indigenous All Stars team in 1995, 2003, 2005 and again in 2007, he was named the fullback in the AFL Indigenous Team of the Century. He continued his career in Darwin playing and winning a premiership for the Buffs in 2005/06 and then a premiership at Southern Districts in 2006/07.

In 2007 he again won a premiership for QAFL team Mt Gravatt securing his sixth premiership across three competitions; the AFL, NTFL and QAFL.

He continued to be a force to be reckoned with in the NTFL as co-coach of the Darwin Buffaloes in 2010/11 followed by two stints with St Marys. Despite not being the youngest player in the NTFL, his natural ability remained on display throughout the 2015/16 season when he played for southern Districts.
