Current AFLNT Vaccination Position

s

In light of the NT Government vaccination mandate and AFL/W vaccination policy announcement, see the below quotes attributable to Chairman of AFLNT, Sean Bowden:

The AFL has consistently reinforced that if you can get vaccinated you should get vaccinated.

AFLNT welcomes both the NT Government's announcement about vaccination mandates for certain workers and the AFL’s policy mandating vaccinations for all AFL,  AFLW players and football department staff. We are working with the NT Government and AFL on what this means for community football and all our stakeholders, but it is clear that being vaccinated will help to ensure our people and communities can be involved in football as they normally would be.

Governments and medical experts have told us that vaccination is the best way back to any sense of normality and the best form of protection against serious COVID-19 illness. We know that COVID-19 will come to the Territory and we need to be prepared. COVID has the potential to cause great harm to people’s health and wellbeing and to disrupt our normal way of life, including all our sporting competitions.

As such, we will be consulting with Territory Club Presidents and leaders to develop a formal position on vaccinations for our competitions. In the meantime, we strongly encourage the community to get vaccinated if you can. This helps to protect not just you but your family, friends and people in your community.

To everyone involved in Territory football and the community more broadly who are yet to decide if you will be vaccinated, please seek the best medical advice for your personal circumstances so you can make an informed decision.

The health and safety or our community is always the top priority. We all need to play our part in keeping our families, clubs and communities safe and getting our industry back to where it was.
