TIO NTFL Round 13 Update – Lockout

NEWS

The Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) will resume after the Christmas break from this Friday 7 January 2022 after consultation with TIO NTFL Clubs and Northern Territory Government.

The health and safety of the community remains the highest priority and AFLNT expects the football community to be vigilant to ensure the minimisation of COVID-19 spread.

In light of the current Northern Territory Government’s “lockout” directions, if 16 years and over, only fully vaccinated individuals with at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine will be able to participate in or attend the TIO NTFL this weekend.

AFLNT encourages those in the football community to familiarise themselves with the Northern Territory Government directions to ensure they are complying.

The TIO NTFL, its Clubs and Umpires Association unanimously endorsed this decision in a statement following the “lockout” direction during Round 6 of this season.

Those playing or attending the football will be required to show proof of their vaccination status upon entering all TIO NTFL venues.

All who attend TIO NTFL venues are required to comply with wearing a mask while inside any premise, including change rooms.

AFLNT encourages all patrons to wear a mask when attending TIO NTFL games.

Personal behaviour is one of the best defences against COVID-19 which is why it is important for everyone to follow all health directions. AFLNT expects all in the football community to take responsibility for their own adherence to the Government directions.

If you have symptoms, stay away from others, do not participate in or attend the footy and get tested for COVID-19.

To arm yourself with the best protection against COVID-19 and to slow the spread, book and receive the vaccine and booster when eligible, maintain a physical distance of 1.5m at all times, check in to all venues using The Territory Check In App, wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly.

The Men’s Premier League Tiwi Bombers and St Mary’s match scheduled for this Saturday 8 January won’t go ahead due current Tiwi Islands travel restrictions. AFLNT will continue to monitor these travel restrictions.

Due to this fixture change and Tracy Village Women’s Premier League forfeit, match times have been amended for this Saturday’s TIO Stadium Premier League games. Amendments are as follows:

2.00pm – Women’s Premier League – Wanderers v Palmerston Magpies
4.00pm – Men’s Premier League – Wanderers v Palmerston Magpies
6.30pm – Men’s Premier League – Waratah v Darwin Buffaloes

AFLNT will continue to be guided by advice from the Government, health authorities, Land Councils and the TIO NTFL Clubs.

AFLNT and TIO NTFL Clubs thank the football community for wearing masks, staying home and not attending the football if you have symptoms/are unwell.
