A Buffaloes champion of the 1930’s, Don Bonson Snr fulfilled roles as both Captain and Vice-Captain.

Played in the Buff’s premiership teams in 1931/32, 1933/34 and 1934/35. Won the NTFL Best & Fairest in 1932/32 and 1935/36 and club Best & Fairest in 1931/32 and 1934/35. Helped form the Wallabies Football Club which he captained in the 1935/36 Grand Final.

A proficient administrator he served as club secretary and treasurer from 1933 to 1935 and was a league delegate from 1933 to 1941. Awarded life membership of the NTFL in 1940 and a life member of the Darwin Buffaloes.
