Link up and say NO MORE to family violence

NoMoreArticle

Initiated in 2006 by founder Charlie King, the No More Campaign and AFLNT have again come together to send the message that family and domestic violence is never acceptable.

AFLNT recognises the important role sport plays in bonding the community and in driving acceptable social behaviour. Domestic Violence Action Plan clauses are part of all TIO NTFL license agreements, and this weekend’s NO MORE Round is an opportunity for the league to continue to send the message, especially over the Christmas period.

“It’s more important now than ever to ‘link arms’ to prevent family violence. No single person or organisation can do it all. We need to come together to eliminate the issue,” NO MORE Founder Charlie King said.

“It is great to see all NTFL clubs getting behind the NO MORE Round. There is a community enthusiasm for dealing with the issue of family and domestic violence. The appetite is growing and we are going to capitalise on that enthusiasm.”

Marcus Rosas, No More Project Officer shares “It’s about teaching and getting the message out there that domestic violence has to stop”

Activations will be rolled out across Round 12 of the TIO NTFL, and all clubs and fans are encouraged to get involved:

1. Men’s and Women’s Premier League clubs to link arms before the start of each of their games. The linking of arms is a symbolic statement to show that everyone who links up is committed to ending the violence no matter where or who they are.

2. Orange armbands will be made available to premier league clubs right across the league. Players are encouraged to wear as a show of support for the No More Campaign.

3. Premier League umpires are wearing orange socks to show their support for the No More Campaign.

4. At the end of every Men’s and Women’s Premier League game across all venues, the coaches will decide on a Spirit of the Game medal recipient from both teams. Awarded to who they deem to have participated in the best spirit and with the greatest respect for the game, their opponents, own team and umpires.

5. No More Information Stands, the NO MORE team will be across all premier league venues this weekend offering information about the No More Campaign and how you can get involved. Be sure to get down to the below venues to pledge your support for the cause.

  • TIO Stadium
  • Gardens Oval
