The initial Cazalys NT Thunder Academy Under 16’s team has been selected and will travel to Melbourne this weekend to play against the Tasmania Devils on Sunday 26 June in their first 2022 NAB AFL National Development Championships match of their three-game series.
Comprising of 24 of the best Under 16 men in NT footy, the diverse team has a breadth of talent with some players travelling from remote areas such as Gove and Tiwi Islands and also from Alice Springs.
AFLNT Talent Manager, Simon Hargrave said the players are excited for the trip to Melbourne with most representing the Territory for the first time.
“For some of the players it will not only be their first time playing competitive football at this level, but also their first time in Melbourne making for an unforgettable experience," he added.
“After months of hard training and preparing, the boys are looking forward to showing off their speed and agility against the Devils as well as the Sydney Swans Academy next weekend and rounding out the series against the Gold Coast SUNS at home early next month.”
