AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) and the NT News have come together for the second season in a partnership to live stream Men’s Premier League games for the 2021/22 TIO NTFL season.

The partnership extension has been sealed in time for the historic match and season opener under the lights at Gardens Oval.

Head of AFLNT Stuart Totham said after the partnership’s success last season, he is excited for what’s to come.

“Last season AFLNT made a number of tactical changes to how we deliver and support our game both through the NT News as a broadcast partner and through the competition management inclusive of fixture structure and including more Club home games, and how we shared revenue through memberships.

“We saw great benefit delivered across all our stakeholder groups and both AFLNT and the NT News were pleased with how the relationship evolved and the engagement in the game that it generated throughout Australia”

“Across last season there was over 134,000 Men’s Premier League match streams behind the NT News paywall, and we are pleased to announce our broadcast relationship with NT News will continue for the 21/22 TIO NTFL Season. This is a continued opportunity for not only NT News subscribers to gain exclusive access to fantastic games, but it also showcases the premier NTFL product to a national audience.

“Last season the streams saw great numbers through our existing market in the Territory but also captured new audiences who experienced some of the best community football in the country.

“In announcing this partnership, we are maintaining broadcast arrangements with long-time partners ABC Radio and NITV and we thank them for their ongoing support of our game.”

NT News Editor Denise Cahill said the livestream partnership with AFLNT last season was a massive success.

"It's clear that our subscribers enjoy the content each week and this season we're committed to attracting even more viewers to the games," she said.

"People down south are looking for an AFL fix now that their seasons are over and we've got the perfect solution for them."

Those with an NT News subscription will have access to Men's Premier League games with the games then posted to the AFLNTv YouTube channel for public viewing 24 hours after their scheduled start time.

As in previous seasons, AFLNT's long-term broadcast partner, ABC Radio Darwin will call one Saturday game from TIO Stadium each round there is a game at the venue. Fans can tune-in live via the ABC listen app.

The support of the National Indigenous Television (NITV) also continues in 2021/22 with NITV to broadcast one Women’s Premier League game per round to a national audience post-Christmas break.

Any other TIO NTFL matches (e.g. Women's Premier League) will remain live via the AFLNTv YouTube channel.

AFLNT thanks KIK Digital for its filming and production support in delivering the live-streaming and broadcast coverage of all its games.
