2021/22 TIO NTFL MRP Round 8

MRP

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel (MRP) has reviewed all matches played in Round 8 of the 2021/22 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid:

Men’s Premier League

Luke Oborn of Tiwi Bombers Football Club has been charged with striking #21 of Waratah Football Club in the first quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Tiwi Bombers and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 20 November 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, Oborn can accept a two-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Abraham Ankers of Waratah Football Club has been charged with striking #8 of Tiwi Bombers in the first quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Tiwi Bombers and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 20 November 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Ankers can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Amyas Ross of Waratah Football Club has been charged with rough conduct against #8 of Tiwi Bombers in the first quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Tiwi Bombers and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 20 November 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Ross can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Tiwi Bombers Football Club and Waratah Football Club have been charged with engaging in a melee in the first quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Tiwi Bombers and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 20 November 2021.

In summary, both sides can accept a fine of $225.00 with an early guilty plea.

Murray Liddle of Palmerston Magpies Football Club has been charged with striking #3 of St Mary’s Football Club in the second quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Palmerston Magpies and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Sunday 21 November 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.

Liddle has also been charged with striking #29 of St Mary’s in the second quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Palmerston Magpies and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Sunday 21 November 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.

In summary, the combined charges result in a four-match penalty and Liddle can accept a three-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Josh Cheek of St Mary’s Football Club has been charged with striking #28 of Palmerston Magpies in the second quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Palmerston Magpies and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Sunday 21 November 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Cheek can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Palmerston Magpies Football Club and St Mary’s Football Club have been charged with engaging in a melee in the second quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Palmerston Magpies and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Sunday 21 November 2021.

In summary, both sides can accept a fine of $475.00 with an early guilty plea.

Men’s Division 1

Brent Crisp of Nightcliff Football Club has been charged with striking #3 of PINT Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Nightcliff and PINT at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 20 November 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Crisp can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

The club/players via the club's tribunal advocate have until 9:00pm tonight (Tuesday) to accept the early plea or lodge an appeal to have the matter heard by an independent Tribunal.

AFLNT will only issue a further update if the club/player chooses to challenge at Tribunal. 

UPDATE 24 November 2021:

Abraham Ankers of Waratah Football Club, Murray Liddle of Palmerston Football Club and Josh Cheek of St Mary’s Football Club’s cases will be heard at the Independent Tribunal this evening. 

Luke Oborn of Tiwi Bombers Football Club, Amyas Ross of Waratah Football Club, Brent Crisp of Nightcliff Football Club, Tiwi Bombers Football Club, Waratah Football Club, Palmerston Football Club and St Mary’s Football Club accepted their Round 8 MRP early guilty pleas.
