2021/22 TIO NTFL MRP Round 11

MRP

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel (MRP) has reviewed all matches played in Round 11 of the 2021/22 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid:

Men’s Premier League

Jacob Long of St Mary’s Football Club has been charged with striking #27 of Waratah Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 11 December 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact.

Long was also charged with instigating a melee. Both charges have resulted in a combined four-match penalty.

In summary, Long can accept a three-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

John Anstess, runner of St Mary’s Football Club has been charged with serious misconduct in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 11 December 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be referred straight to the independent Tribunal. 
 
St Mary’s and Waratah have been charged with engaging in two melees in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL match between St Mary’s and Waratah at TIO Stadium Saturday 11 December 2021.
 
The charges have resulted in St Mary’s receiving a combined $1,050 fine penalty and Waratah has received a combined $750 fine penalty.

Men’s Division 1 

Charlie Finn Arthur of Wanderers Football Club has been charged with using abusive, insulting or obscene language towards or in relation to an umpire in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Banks Football Club and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 11 December 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, threatening or obscene language heard from 50 metres away. It was the view of the MRP that the incident should be referred straight to the independent Tribunal. 

Blaine Grills of Waratah Football Club has been charged with striking a PINT Football Club player in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Me’s Division 1 match between PINT and Waratah on Saturday 11 December 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two match penalty.

In summary, Grills can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

The club/players via the club's tribunal advocate have until 9:00pm tonight (Tuesday) to accept the early plea or lodge an appeal to have the matter heard by an independent Tribunal.

AFLNT will only issue a further update if the club/player chooses to challenge at Tribunal.  
 

UPDATE 15 December: 
Jacob Long and John Anstess of St Mary’s Football Club and Charlie Finn Arthur of Wanderers Football Club’s cases will be heard at the independent Tribunal. 

Blaine Grills of Waratah Football Club, St Mary’s Football Club and Waratah Football Club have accepted their early guilty pleas.
