2020/21 TIO NTFL MRP – Week 1 Finals

Match Report

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel (MRP) has reviewed all matches played in Week 1 Finals of the 2020/21 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid:

Men’s Premier League
Thomas Motlop of Wanderers Football Club has been charged with rough conduct against #37 of St Mary’s Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Wanderers at TIO on Saturday 27 February 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Motlop can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

Braedon McLean of Wanderers Football Club has been charged with rough conduct against #6 of St Mary’s Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Wanderers at TIO on Saturday 27 February 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, McLean can accept a two-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Men’s Division 1
Thomas Finlay of Banks Football Club has been charged with striking #2 of PINT Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Banks and PINT at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 27 February 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Finlay can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

The clubs/players via the club's tribunal advocate has until 9:00pm tonight (Tuesday) to accept the early plea or lodge an appeal to have the matter heard by an independent Tribunal.

Dismissed Report
The umpire's report recorded against Robert Turnbull of Waratah Football Club was dismissed by the MRP.
