TIO NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 17

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 17 of the 2019/20 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League 

Cameron Stokes, of the Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 15 from Waratah Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between the Darwin Buffaloes and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Friday 7 February 2020.

Based on the umpire's report and evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Stokes can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

Anthony Long, of St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against player number 3 from the Tiwi Bombers Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between the Tiwi Bombers and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Saturday 8 February 2020.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, Long can accept a two-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

Leroy Larson, of St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 18 from the Tiwi Bombers Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between the Tiwi Bombers and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Saturday 8 February 2020.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Larson can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea. 

Men’s Division 1

Luke Tyrrell, of Banks Football Club, has been charged with forceful front on contact against player number 14 of  PINT Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Banks and PINT at Gardens Oval on Saturday 8 February 2020.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, Tyrrell can accept a two-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

Jack Castles, of Banks Football Club, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against player number 8 of  PINT Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Banks and PINT at Gardens Oval on Saturday 8 February 2020.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Castles can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

Deon Gordon, of Wanderers Football Club, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against player number 9 of  Waratah Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Waratah and Wanderers at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 8 February 2020.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, Gordon can accept a two-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

The clubs/players via the club's tribunal advocate has until 9:00pm tonight (Tuesday) to accept the early plea or lodge an appeal to have the matter heard by an independent Tribunal.

*UPDATED Wednesday 5 February* 

The independent Tribunal will sit tonight to hear two charges laid by the MRP. All other players accepted their MRP sanctions.

Matters being heard:
