TIO NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 12

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 12 of the 2019/20 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League 

Beau O’Connell, of Wanderers Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 17 from St Mary’s Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Friday 3 January 2020.
 
Based on the umpire's report and video evidence, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.
 
In summary, O’Connell can accept a one-match penalty for an early guilty plea.
 
Baxter Slater, of St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with rough conduct against number 13 from Wanderers Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Friday 3 January 2020.
 
Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and contact to the body, resulting in a one-match penalty.
 
In summary, Slater can accept a reprimand for an early guilty plea.
 
Brenton Motlop, of Wanderers Football Club, has been charged with charging player number 17 from St Mary’s Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Friday 3 January 2020.
 
Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.
 
In summary, Motlop can accept a one-match penalty for an early guilty plea.

Liam O’Connor, of Waratah Football Club, has been charged with rough conduct against number 1 from Nightcliff Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Waratah at TIO Stadium on Saturday 4 January 2020.
 
Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and contact to the body, resulting in a one-match penalty.
 
In summary, O’Connor can accept a reprimand for an early guilty plea.
 
Men’s Division 1
 
Darby Lockhart, runner for Wanderers Football Club, has been charged with misconduct (interfering with opposition players) in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between PINT Football Club and Wanderers at Marrara Cricket Ground on Saturday 4 January 2020.
 
Based on the umpire's report, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct and low impact, resulting in a one-match penalty.
 
In summary, Lockhart can accept a reprimand for an early guilty plea. 

Ethan McMasters, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, has been charged with using abusive/obscene language towards an umpire in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between the Darwin Buffaloes and Nightcliff Football Club at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 4 January 2020. 
 
Based on the umpire's report, it was the view of the Panel that the specific content of the language McMasters is alleged to have used is in-line with the Auditory Offences matrix (Appendix 9) that is part of the AFLNT Rules and Regulations (2019-2020 edition) and should be classified as medium, meaning the comment could be heard 10 to 50 metres away, while the conduct was rated as abusive/obscene. This has resulted in a three-match penalty.
 
In summary, McMasters can accept a two-match penalty for an early guilty plea.

Men’s Division 2
 
Travis Mills, of St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with prohibited contact on player number 10 from University Rats Football Club after the final siren of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2 match between St Mary’s and Uni Rats at TIO Oval 2 on Sunday 5 January 2020.
 
The incident has been referred directly to the Tribunal.  

*UPDATED Wednesday 8 January* 

The independent Tribunal will sit tonight (Wednesday), to hear four matters. after three players/club chose to contest and one matter was sent directly from the MRP.  

Men's Premier League

Beau O’Connell, of Wanderers Football Club, was offered a one-match penalty as an early guilty plea for a rough conduct charge but has opted to have the matter heard by the Tribunal.

Brenton Motlop, of Wanderers Football Club, was offered a one-match penalty as an early guilty plea for a charge of charging but has opted to have the matter heard by the Tribunal.

Men's Division 1

Darby Lockhart, runner for Wanderers Football Club, was offered a reprimand as an early guilty plea for misconduct but has opted to have the matter heard by the Tribunal. 

Men's Division 2

Travis Mills, of St Mary’s Football Club, was sent directly to Tribunal for a charge of prohibited contact.
