TIO NTFL Match Review Panel: Finals Week 2

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Finals Week 2 of the 2019/20 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League 

Josiah Farrer, of the Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with tripping player number 25 from Tiwi Bombers Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Tiwi Bombers and Southern Districts at TIO Stadium on Saturday 29 February 2020.

Based on the umpire's report and the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and contact to the body, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Farrer can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea. 

Nicholas Yarran, of the St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with rough conduct on player number 23 from Nightcliff Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Saturday 29 February 2020.

Based on the umpire's report and the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact to the body, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Yarran can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

Lachlan Sharp, of the Nightcliff Football Club, has been charged with kneeing player number 7 from St Mary's Football Club in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Saturday 29 February 2020.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Sharp can accept a one-match penalty for an early guilty plea.

Men’s Division 2 

Damien Niki, of the Wanderers Football Club, has been charged with kneeing player number 16 from Banks Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2 match between Banks and Wanderers at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 29 February 2020.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Niki can accept a one-match penalty for an early guilty plea.

The Tribunal will sit tonight to hear the charge relating to Nicholas Yarran

All other players accepted the sanctions for an early guilty plea.
