For the first time, our youngest juniors will have the opportunity to play for the same NTFL club as their brothers, sisters, mum and dad from Under 10s.

Kennards Hire NTFL Juniors U10s is the pathway from NAB AFL Auskick into club football in Darwin and the Palmerston/Rural area.

After a successful eight-week mini season held in the 2018/19 season, the 2019/20 season will see the first-ever full NTFL Juniors U10s season played.

Suitable for budding young footballers, male and female, born between 1 January 2010 and 30 April 2012, the season will commence on Wednesday 16 October, running for a total of 14 weeks with a seven-week break over the Christmas holiday period.

With 10 NTFL club participating, kids will get their first taste of playing in a club environment with rules that are modified to maximise skill development, participation and fun.

Darwin-based clubs; Banks, Darwin Buffaloes, Nightcliff, PINT, St Mary’s, Tracy Village, Wanderers and Waratah can all register two teams with up to 20 youngsters per team allowed.

Rural clubs; Southern Districts and Palmerston Magpies, will have an allocation of three teams also consisting of up to 20 children per team.

Manager of Game Development and Planning at AFLNT, Emily Wastle-Hopkins said this competition serves as the important link between from NAB AFL Auskick straight into the NTFL clubs.

“We are proud to be able to provide our juniors with the opportunity and pathway to play for NTFL clubs. There is a deep attachment to the NTFL clubs and the NTFL brand, and we wanted to provide the opportunity for juniors to represent their clubs just like their local heroes.

“Thanks to Kennards hire for their continued support of junior NT footy and to the clubs for being great supporters of the U10s concept; I do not doubt this competition we will see many youngsters running around who will be the NTFL men’s and women’s stars of the future!”
