TIO NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 8

Match Review Panel

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 8 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season.

The following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League

Adam Cook, of Wanderers Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 17 of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Darwin Buffaloes and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 24 November 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report and video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Cook can accept a one-match suspension as an early guilty plea.

Matt Campbell, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club has been charged with disputing a decision of an umpire between the first and second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Darwin Buffaloes and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 24 November 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as a low level offence resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Campbell can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea. 

Matt Campbell, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against player number 22 of the Wanderers Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Darwin Buffaloes and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 24 November 2018.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Campbell can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Please note: In accordance with 5.2 (f) of the State and Territory Tribunal Guideline - where a player is found guilty of multiple offences from a single match, the individual penalties are added together to form the final penalty to the player. For the avoidance of doubt in the case of two reprimands, this equates to a final sanction of one match suspension for Campbell.

Men’s Division 1

Brett Rice, of Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with abusive language to an umpire in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Tracy Village and Southern Districts at Tracy Village on Sunday 25 November 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as a low level offence resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Rice can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Men’s Division 2

Anthony Newlove, of Nightcliff Football Club, has been charged with striking in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2 match between Nightcliff and Banks at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 24 November 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report, the incident has been referred directly to the Tribunal.

Charlie Dring, of Banks Bulldogs Football Club, has been charged with striking in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2 match between Nightcliff and Banks at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 24 November 2018.

Based on the umpire’s report, the incident has been referred directly to the Tribunal.

All clubs have until 9pm ACST Tuesday to indicate whether the charged players accept the imposed sanctions or they wish to challenge at Tribunal.
