AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 10 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season.
The following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:
Men’s Premier League
Steven Anderson, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, has been charged with a high bump on player number 4 of Palmerston Magpies Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Darwin Buffaloes and Palmerston Magpies at TIO Stadium on Saturday 8 December 2018.
Based on the umpire’s referral and video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.
Due to a poor tribunal record in the past two years, the penalty was increased to a three-match suspension.
In summary, Anderson can accept a two-match suspension as an early guilty plea.
Men’s Division 2
Andrew Gerritsen, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club has been charged with head butting an opponent in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2 match between PINT Football Club and Palmerston Magpies at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 8 December 2018.
Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.
In summary, Gerritsen can accept a one-match penalty as an early guilty plea.
All clubs have until 9pm ACST Tuesday to indicate whether the charged players accept the imposed sanctions or they wish to challenge at Tribunal.
