To the NTFL fans, get set to show your true colours!

Welcome to the 2017-18 TIO NTFL season. Get set to show your true colours!

By Michael Solomon, CEO AFL Northern Territory

I get great joy from watching the hundreds of fans fill the grounds every weekend, cheering on their family, mates and heroes while being emblazoned in their team colours and making lots of noise.

This is shaping up to be an exhilarating season, and I am truly honoured to be serving as the chief executive of the AFLNT during this time.

During the off-season, we’ve implemented some small changes to the competition that will be adopted by all grades, and we’ve also made some hard decisions about the running of our pinnacle competition, the Men’s Premier League. I assure you that when making these calls we have always had the best interests of the future of Territory footy in the forefront of our minds.

The addition of regular Friday night men’s fixtures to back up the junior games that have long featured as a Friday evening pastime, as well as more home games at your local ground should get you excited.

This season the fun can continue at home, with Southern Cross TV and NITV both signing on as official broadcast partners and NTFL Tipping and Play of the Round back.

In a testament to just how loved footy in the Top End is, we have the NT Government to thank for the upgrades to TIO Stadium, including the renovation of the lights and the newly refurbished change rooms which will provide better access for all players.

Once again, we look set to host the Crows Women’s team, who thrive off playing in front of passionate supporters, especially here at their second home.

As a whole, we are a proud, passionate group and it is our love of this great game that sees its continued growth right across the NT.

All would not be possible, nor would the TIO NTFL be as healthy as it is today, without the support of our commercial partners.

Likewise, the uniqueness that is Territory football would not happen without the tireless work of every club, its administrators and the hundreds of volunteers. Their passion and dedication are what drives us.

This is a season to celebrate. Thank you for being a part of it.
See you at the game!
