2022 Cazalys NTFL Representative Squads Announced!

REP

The Men’s and Women’s Cazalys Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) Representative Game squads have been announced ahead of the clash against South Australia National Football League’s (SANFL) Woodville West Torrens on 22 January 2022.

The clashes will mark the second-time representative footy has been played in the Territory in recent times and is an exciting opportunity to inspire younger players to get involved and show the other end of the country what we’ve got up in the north.

The Men’s Selection Committee comprises of Chairperson Shannon Rusca, Head Coach Chris Baskh, Committee Member Stu Davis, Team Manager Leith Waterbury and AFLNT Talent Manager Simon Hargrave.

Baksh said he is confident the names announced in the squad today will help shape strong team on the day.

“There has been some outstanding talent coming out of the NTFL this season and we’re really happy with the squad we have selected,” he said.

“There have been many great players who have represented our great Territory in the past and we are excited to be adding to that for our future starts to look up to and wear the prestigious ochre, black and white with pride.”

Chairperson Colleen Gwynne, Head Coach Jarred Ilett, Committee Members Heidi Thompson and Leith Waterbury, along with AFLNT Talent Manager Simon Hargrave were tasked with selecting the Women’s squad.

Ilett said the selection philosophy was clear and we only had a limited number of spots to fill which always creates robust debate around who should be selected.

“Firstly, I want to thank all the NTFL Coaches for their player nominations. Selection has been extremely difficult; however, the initial squad has a great blend of experience, speed and skill.”

“The key criteria for selection has been form and identifying our young talented players that are currently leading the Women’s Premier competition.”

This year the Women’s Selection Committee has implemented a new initiative to include three of the most draftable 16-year-olds to expose them to the senior representative program that will help their development.

Talented TIO NTFL players Tatyana Perry of Palmerston Magpies, Emma Stark of St Mary’s and Grace Whittaker of Southern Districts have been included in the squad and will benefit from training with the best players in the Women’s competition.

The lists announced today are fluid and open to change depending on a number of factors from availability, injury and form. The final team will be selected in the week leading up to the game.

The first training session for the men’s side took place earlier in the week and the women’s will take place on 22 December at TIO Stadium.

Early bird tickets for the hotly anticipated rep games are now on sale and can be purchased here.
