NTFL Appeals Board update - Braedon McLean

Tribunal

AFLNT wishes to advise the original Tribunal’s decision in the matter of Braedon McLean from the Wanderers Football Club has been upheld.

The independent Appeals Board did not find there was an error in the Tribunal’s decision to issue McLean with a three-match sanction at the original hearing on Wednesday 3rd March 2021.

At the time of the Tribunal hearing, McLean contested the charge of rough conduct against player number 6 from St Mary’s Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Wanderers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 27 February 2021.

On reviewing the available footage and hearing the evidence provided, the Tribunal found McLean guilty of intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact and issued him with a three-match sanction.

Wanderers Football Club lodged an application with the Appeals Board arguing that the sanction imposed was manifestly excessive.

After the Appeals Board panel heard the submissions by both the Wanderers and St Mary’s this evening, the panel concluded there were not compelling and exceptional circumstances for a reduction from the base penalty.
