TIO NTFL Match Review Panel: Finals Week 1

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Finals Week 1 of the 2019/20 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League 

Jason Puruntatameri, of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 27 from St Mary’s Football Club in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Tiwi Bombers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 22 February 2020.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact to the body, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Puruntatameri can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

Matthew Kantilla, of the Tiwi Bombers Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 11 from St Mary’s Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Tiwi Bombers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 22 February 2020.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact to the body, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Kantilla can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea. 

Men’s Division 1 

Scott Seymour, of the Waratah Football Club, has been charged with bumping or striking player number 22 from the St Mary’s Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between St Mary’s and Waratah at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 22 February 2020.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Seymour can accept a one-match penalty for an early guilty plea.

Riley Judd, of the Waratah Football Club, has been charged with bumping or striking player number 22 from the St Mary’s Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between St Mary’s and Waratah at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 22 February 2020.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Judd can accept a one-match penalty for an early guilty plea.

*UPDATED Wednesday 26 February* 

The Tribunal will sit tonight to hear the charges relating to Jason Puruntatameri and Matthew Kantilla. 

All other players accepted the sanctions for an early guilty plea.
