AFLNT Statement: Update on Police seizure at Tiwi Islands

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) has been in contact with the Northern Territory Police, the Tiwi Bombers Football Club and the Waratah Football Club following the incident that occurred on Saturday night where members from the Men's Premier League fixture between the Tiwi Bombers and Waratah are alleged to have attempted to take alcohol and drugs onto the Tiwi Islands.

AFLNT is comfortable with the approach both clubs are taking to handle the matter and support the processes and decisions that have been made so far.

Information on the decisions/club sanctions can be sought directly from the clubs.

In addition to any legal processes the NT Police may choose to pursue, the accused members could also be subject to investigation for breach of the AFLNT Code of Conduct & Conditions of Entry (category 2) should AFLNT not be satisfied with the relevant club's disciplinary actions or the outcomes of such action.

AFLNT will also work with NTFL clubs and local authorities to help mitigate and minimise unwanted behaviour or instances, such as those alleged to have taken place on Saturday, from happening in the future.
