AFLNT releases 2018 NT Worksafe Big Rivers Football League fixture

BRFL

AFLNT today released the 2018 NT Worksafe Big Rivers Football League (BRFL) fixture for the upcoming season.

The competition kicks off on Friday 20 April at Tindal Oval in Katherine with the annual ANZAC Day match between Tindal Magpies and Katherine Camels set down as a twilight match, which should draw a large crowd. Festivities on the night will include a short ceremony acknowledging ANZAC Day followed by a jet flyover.

The NT Worksafe BRFL Country competition will commence on Monday 7 May as part of the May Day long weekend. This year a new initiative will see the country teams play in a Challenge Cup, scheduled at local and remote grounds.

AFLNT Manager of Football and Facilities Russell Jeffrey said a lot of hard work had gone into ensuring 2018 would be a special year for footy fans in the Katherine region.

“We are pleased to release the fixtures for NT Worksafe BRFL Country competition.

“It’s shaping up to be a really exciting year ahead in the Katherine region with Australian football more accessible to remote communities and more games scheduled on community ovals.

“There are programs for men, women, and children and stronger pathways for players to develop through the club and league system,” Jeffrey said.
