Date confirmed for 2023 AFLNT Hall of Fame

AFL Northern Territory are excited to confirm the AFLNT Hall of Fame will return on Saturday 12 August 2023.

It has been 4 years since the last event in 2019, where a further 15 inductees had their names etched in the history books, as well the inaugural Hall of Fame 'Team' induction, which was awarded to the 1988 Bicentennial Carnival team. Read more about AFLNT Hall of Fame Inductees here.

Formed in December 2023, the 2023 Hall of Fame Committee members include former AFLNT Board Member Andrew Gray, Territory sporting icon Bennie Lew Fatt, AFLNT historian, and author Michael Barfoot, long-serving Territory football administrators Peter Atkinson Costa Karaolias, sports journalist Grey Morris. Previous captain of the NT Thunder Women’s side, Lateesha Jeffrey, 2019 Hall of Fame Inductee, CAFL Stalwarts Roy Arbon and Stan Coombe, and 2010 Hall of Fame inductee Mark Motlop.

The committee is chaired by former Darwin Buffaloes President and 2014 Hall of Fame inductee Bryan Moroney, who said the committee reflected a broad range of the football community each bringing vast knowledge of the game and its history.

“We’ve seen Territory football royalty inducted over the years, names such as Ah Mat, Bonson, Jeffrey, Long, McLean, Motlop, Rioli, McLeod, and the list of goes on. It’s really exciting to begin the process to welcome the new crop.”
