J’Noemi adds to the Anderson family footy dynasty

The NT gains another NAB AFLW draftee after J’Noemi Anderson was taken by the St Kilda Football Club in tonight’s Draft at pick number 16.

Anderson is known to dominate the TIO NTFL Premier League in the midfield and as a strong forward player for St Mary’s Football Club. It was through her skill and character which earned her the St Mary’s Women’s Premier League Best and Fairest last season and the NT News Rising Star Award in season 2020/21.

After other notable seasons within the Cazalys NT Thunder Academy, Allies, NAB AFLW Academy and also in the NAB League for the Sandringham Dragons where impressed coaches and gained great experience for her journey to the AFLW.

AFLNT Talent Manager Simon Hargrave said he’s thrilled Anderson’s hard work through the talent pathways has paid off.

“I have watched J’Noemi grow and develop significantly over the past three to four years,” he said.

“She has put the hard work to get where she is today and it’s really exciting to see where her footy can take her at the highest level.

“J’Noemi is a reliable in and under player, not afraid to go hard at the contest and can also hit the scoreboard as well. What more could you want from a mid/forward player?!

“She has been a huge talent for us in the Cazalys NT Thunder Academy over the past couple of years, was also selected for Allies and I have no doubt she’ll be a great asset to the Saints.”

With three siblings who have or currently still play in the AFL or AFLW, the Anderson family is no stranger to the elite competition. Joe played 17 games for Carlton between 2007 and 2010, Jasmine was a rookie on Adelaide's inaugural AFLW list in 2017 and Jed is a mainstay in North Melbourne's midfield, having played 80 games after starting his career at Hawthorn.

Anderson is the 21st NT-affiliated player to be listed on an AFLW squad since the inaugural AFL Women's Draft in 2016.
