BRFL Grand Finals to be livestreamed and broadcast nationwide for the first time!

BRFL

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) is excited to announce the 2021 Big River’s Football League (BRFL) Katherine River Division Senior Men’s and Women’s games played at Katherine Showgrounds this Saturday 18 September will be livestreamed on AFLNTv and later broadcast nationwide on NITV.

It is the first time the BRFL Grand Finals have ever been livestreamed or televised.

Head of AFLNT Stuart Totham said he is thrilled to collaborate with NITV on bringing the best of Big Rivers footy to the screens of those across the country.

“We thank NITV and Katherine West Health Board for their support in Territory football coverage and the broadcast of Big Rivers footy nationwide,” he said.

“With the BRFL growing substantially this season with an increase of around 25% of participants across the board as well as the introduction of a club aligned Junior series, we are ecstatic for the opportunity to grow the profile of the league even more.

“The BRFL was hit by COVID impacts this year, resulting in the league pushing back the Grand Final Day by a week but are so fortunate to be able to complete the season.

“We hope those unable to attend the games or those in areas of Australia who may have missed out on their local football finals can tune in to watch some great footy!”

This season the BRFL Grand Final Day features back-to-back appearances for both the Senior Men and Women grades. Both matches are set to display the best quality footy out of the Big Rivers region.

In the Senior Men’s competition, Katherine Camels featuring this season’s BRFL Best and Fairest Doug Kelly Medal recipient Daniel Vercoe will take on rivals and defending Premiers, Katherine South.

The Senior Women from Katherine South will take on Arnhem Crows in a highly anticipated contested match with runner up 2020/21 TIO NTFL Gwynne Medallist Eliza Morrison from South and BRFL Best and Fairest medal recipient Freda Wosomo from the Crows battling for the Premiership.

Viewers around Australia can tune in to watch the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s Grand Finals live from AFLNT’s YouTube channel, AFLNTv.
