INPEX supports community football with two new grants

NTFL Community Clubs are set to benefit with new programs launched between AFLNT and long-time partner INPEX.

The INPEX Community Volunteer Program and the INPEX Club Equipment Program initiatives are part of the Cazalys Community Football Program and will have a direct impact on grassroots clubs.

AFL Community Football Manager NT Leigh Elder said the support of INPEX was critical to deliver the two initiatives.

“We take this opportunity to recognise and pay tribute to INPEX for their partnership in what is a new approach to our support of grassroots footy,” Elder said.

“We know that clubs will be very excited about the approach – not only will they see both short and long-term benefits with the INPEX Volunteer Program, but we know they will all take advantage of the INPEX Club Equipment Program which gives tangible benefits where it really matters.”

Elder expects NTFL clubs will be excited to submit their applications for new equipment this week which could include training devices, sports training equipment and coaching equipment.

“This is truly a great concept with an annual grant of $500 to each club – grants must ultimately have the aim of assisting the club as a whole, rather than one individual or a single team, which will be a huge benefit.”

The INPEX Club Equipment Program will be governed by the AFLNT Club Development Manager, with all equipment purchased through the existing AFLNT Preferred Supplier chain.

The INPEX Community Volunteer Program aims to increase skills of volunteers within community clubs – focussed firstly on the TIO NTFL competition.

“Our team will be rolling out this program initially to NTFL clubs with the primary aim of increasing the quantity and quality of volunteers,” Elder said.

“This will be in the form of both organisation-wide forums but also one-on-one opportunities with in-house training.

“As we develop and hone the tools and training programs we will be in a position to roll-out the program to other parts of the Territory – ideally in time for the winter/dry season start to other competitions.”

INPEX General Manager Northern Territory Roland Houareau said the organisation is thrilled to provide this valuable support to NTFL clubs.

“INPEX has proudly partnered with AFL NT for more than a decade and we are pleased to expand on this partnership with our new INPEX Community Volunteer Program and INPEX Club Equipment Program,” Houareau said.

“NTFL clubs play such an integral role here in the Territory and we look forward to supporting capacity building of local clubs at a grassroots level with equipment and volunteer development.”
