AFLW

Central Australian footy fans are set to converge on Alice Springs this Saturday night when Melbourne’s AFLW team takes on Carlton at TIO Traegar Park, with free entry available to all spectators.

Gates will open for the Round 5 NAB AFL Women’s clash from 5pm ACST via both Speed St and Gap Road, with play to begin at 6:10pm ACST. **PLEASE NOTE AS OF FRIDAY 13 MARCH IN LINE WITH NATIONAL PROTOCOL: ALL NAB AFLW GAMES WILL BE CLOSED TO SPECTATORS**

Both Carlton and Melbourne sit in the top three of the AFLW’s Conference B, only dropping one game each in the opening four rounds of the season.

The Blues will be riding a three-match winning streak, while the Demons have registered victories in their past two outings.

The match forms part of a four-year partnership between the AFL and AFLNT and NT Government, which will see the Gold Coast SUNS play in Darwin and the Demons play in Alice Springs every year until 2023, covering both elite men’s and women’s fixtures.

It is the second time the Melbourne FC women have visited Alice Springs - their last game was in Round 4 of the 2018 season when they suffered a loss to Collingwood.

Saturday night’s game will also coincide with an exciting day of NTFL Grand Finals action, with seven games taking place at Darwin’s TIO Stadium.
