TIO NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 16

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 16 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season and the following charge has been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League

Steven Anderson, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, has been charged with rough conduct on player number 17 of Wanderers Football Club in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Wanderers and Darwin Buffaloes at TIO Stadium on Saturday 2 February 2019.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

Due to Anderson’s existing bad record (the Player has been suspended for 4 matches in the past 12 months) his final penalty was increased to three-matches but he can accept a two-match penalty as an early guilty plea.

Other Incidents Assessed

The umpire’s report against Benjamin Rioli, of St Mary’s Football Club for striking in the first quarter of the Men’s Premier League match between Southern Districts and St Mary’s was dismissed by the MRP.

All clubs have until 9pm ACST Tuesday to indicate whether the charged players accept the imposed sanctions or they wish to challenge at Tribunal.
