Russell Jeffrey tenders resignation

Russell Jeffrey

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise that Manager of Community Football and Facilities, Russell Jeffrey has tendered his resignation with the organisation.

Jeffrey who has been in the job since October 2017 advised today that he had been presented a new role outside of football that he couldn’t pass up.

“I didn’t go looking for the opportunity, the opportunity found me and in it was just too good to pass up.

“I am disappointed that I am leaving AFLNT. The one thing I have found since I have been here has been that the amount of work that goes on within this building is phenomenal and I think people need to be aware of that and respect that. There are a lot of people working very hard to make sure football progresses in the right direction for the Territory,” he said.

AFLNT CEO Stuart Totham said it was disappointing for the organisation to lose someone of Jeffrey’s calibre and expertise.

“Russell had just put his feet under the desk and was settling into his role well.

“The positive impact he had was evident, in particular, the way he worked with all our stakeholders and the broader business to achieve the best outcomes for footy in the NT.

“His future contribution will be missed, but he goes with our blessing and best wishes for the future.”

Jeffrey’s last day with AFLNT will be Thursday 26 July, and AFLNT will immediately start the process to find a suitable replacement.

“Having been a part of this is something I will respect and be very proud of for a long time.

“Whoever gets the opportunity will take a real step into an environment that is enjoyable and very much team orientated,” Jeffrey said.
