Pink Power Gala Day set to be bigger than ever

Pink Power Gala Day

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) is excited to announce that the 2018 Pink Power Gala Day will be held on Thursday 5 April at TIO Stadium.

With 23 teams participating it is set to be AFLNT’s biggest ‘All Girls’ participation day ever held for upper primary school girls, smashing last year’s event which hosted 15 teams.

For the first time a Katherine team will play with the Clyde Fenton Primary School nominating a team to line up against teams from across Darwin and Palmerston.

AFLNT Game Development Manager Emily Wastle is excited about the day being the biggest yet with around 275 players expected to attend.

“The Pink Power Gala Day is a great introduction to female football especially for those who have not played football before. It is also a pathway to the All-Girls Thunder Juniors program which starts on 27 April.”

“Last year the Malak Primary School took out the title against Wulagi Primary School but with 8 extra teams this year there is a lot more competition so it will be interesting to see who will win,” she said.

The first round of games kick off at 9.30am, and the event will conclude with the grand final at 11.45am followed by fun on the inflatable Thunder waterslide.
