NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 3

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 3 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season.

The following charges have been laid in the senior divisions:

Men’s Premier League

Thomas Davies, of St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 19 of Wanderers Football Club in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Wanderers and St Mary’s at TIO Stadium on Saturday 20 October 2018.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match suspension.

Due to a poor record over the past two years, Davies’ two-match suspension was increased to a three-match suspension but he can accept a two-match suspension as an early guilty plea.

Men’s Division 2

Igantius Vallejo, of St Mary’s Football Club, has been charged with disputing an umpire’s decision in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2 match between Southern Districts Football Club and St Mary’s at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 20 October 2018.

It is a low-level offence but due to a poor record over the past two years, Vallejo’s one-match suspension was increased to a two-match suspension but he can accept a one-match suspension as an early guilty plea.

In addition, Vallejo has been charged with failing to leave the playing surface during the fourth quarter of the same game.

It is a low-level offence but due to it being the second low-level offence in the same game, Vallejo’s two-match suspension was increased to a three-match suspension but he can accept a two-match suspension as an early guilty plea.

Should Vallejo accept both early guilty pleas then the suspensions will be served consecutively, as a three-match penalty.

All clubs have until 9pm ACST Tuesday to indicate whether the charged players accept the imposed sanctions or they wish to challenge at Tribunal.
