NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 17

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 17 of the 2017/18 TIO NTFL Season.
 
The following charges have been laid in the senior divisions: 
 
MEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE
 
Keidan Holt-Tubbs, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct on player number 12 of Nightcliff Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Palmerston at TIO Stadium on Friday 9 February 2018. 
 
Based on the umpire’s report and video evidence, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match suspension.

In summary, Holt-Tubbs can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Matthew Filo, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct on player number 21 of Nightcliff Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Palmerston at TIO Stadium on Friday 9 February 2018. 
 
Based on video evidence, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match suspension.

In summary, Filo can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Kris Brown, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 10 of Nightcliff Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Palmerston at TIO Stadium on Friday 9 February 2018. 
 
Based on video evidence, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact contact to the body, resulting in a one-match suspension.

In summary, Brown can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Julian Lockwood, of Nightcliff Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 35 of Palmerston Magpies Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Palmerston at TIO Stadium on Friday 9 February 2018. 
 
Based on video evidence, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match suspension.

In summary, Lockwood can accept a one-match penalty as an early guilty plea.

Thomas Davies, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct on player number 10 of Nightcliff Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Palmerston at TIO Stadium on Friday 9 February 2018. 
 
Based on video evidence, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match suspension.

In summary, Davies can accept a one-match penalty as an early guilty plea.

Kane Davis, of Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with using abusive language towards or in relation to an umpire in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Waratah Football Club and Southern Districts at Gardens Oval on Sunday 11 February 2018. 
 
Based on the umpire’s report it was the view of the panel that the incident should result in a one-match suspension.

In summary, Davis can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE

Desiree Gordon, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club, has been charged with kicking player number 21 of Nightcliff Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Women’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Palmerston at TIO Stadium on Sunday 11 February 2018. 
 
Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact, and has been referred directly to the independent Tribunal.

MEN’S DIVISION 1

Alan Graham, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, has been charged with charging player number 8 of Banks Football Club in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Darwin Buffaloes and Banks at TIO Stadium on Saturday 10 February 2018. 
 
Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, high impact and high contact, and has been referred directly to the independent Tribunal.

Adrain McAdam, coach of Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with using abusive language towards or in relation to an umpire in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Waratah Football Club and Southern Districts at Gardens Oval on Sunday 11 February 2018. 

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be referred directly to the independent Tribunal. 

Matthew Arundell, of Waratah Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 10 of Southern Districts Football Club in the fourth quarter TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between Waratah Football Club and Southern Districts at Gardens Oval on Sunday 11 February 2018. 

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match suspension.

In summary, Arundell can accept a one-match penalty as an early guilty plea. 

TRIBUNAL

At this stage the independent Tribunal is set to sit on Wednesday 14 February from 6pm to hear the following charges (order is TBC): 

1. Round 17 – Desiree Gordon (Palmerston Magpies Football Club, Women’s PL) – direct referral of kicking charge

2. Round 17 – Alan Graham (Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, Men’s Div 1) – direct referral of charging

3. Round 17 – Adrian McAdam (Southern Districts Football Club, Men’s Div 1) – direct referral of using abusive language charge

APPEALS BOARD

At this stage the independent Appeals Board is set to sit on Tuesday 20 February from 6pm to hear two cases. Southern Districts Football Club requested a small extension in order to prepare, and so the date was shifted from this Thursday. The order of cases is TBC: 

1. Pierce Liddle (Southern Districts Football Club) – found guilty of rough conduct in Round 12

2. Keegan Dingo (Southern Districts Football Club) – found guilty of rough conduct in Round 16

Note: 
The process of the appeal is that the independent Appeals Board will listen to the grounds for appeal (which are outlined in point 4.3 of the 2017 State and Territory Tribunal Guidelines) and decide if there is a ground/s that have been met.

In most circumstances, if the ground/s for appeal have been met, they will then proceed with the appeal in the same sitting.

However, it is not unusual for this first part of the process to be quite lengthy, likewise, there are times where the second part of the process, hearing the appeal is deferred to a later date. This will not be known until the time.
