Cracka Cup set to be biggest yet

Cracka Cup

230 primary school students will converge on TIO Stadium on Tuesday 11 September for the biggest Cracka Cup event in AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) history.

23 teams will participate this year in the annual competition for Grade 2 and 3 school boys and girls which is two more teams than in 2017.

For the first time the Leanyer Primary School will field a team to line up against teams from across Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area.

AFLNT Game Development Manager Emily Wastle is excited about the day being the biggest yet.

“The Cracka Cup Day is a great introduction to junior football especially for those who have not played football before and it is a pathway to both Auskick and the exciting new Thunder Juniors Under 10’s program which starts in October.”

“The aim of the day is participation and will be played in a 9 a side, round robin format,” she said.

The first round of games begin at 9.30am and the event will conclude around 1.30pm followed by fun on the inflatable Thunder waterslide.
