CAFL finals begin this weekend

After an enthralling season of football, finals for the Central Australian Football League (CAFL) begin this weekend in Alice Springs.

Rovers vs E-Girls will kick off the finals series this Friday night in the Yeperenye Women’s competition followed by Alkamilya vs West at TIO Traeger Park.

The Men’s competition will see Rovers vs South in the TIO Seniors Qualifying Final followed by Federal vs West in the Elimination Final on Saturday.

Football Operations Manager for Central Australia Simon Hargrave said the finals series will be an exciting finish to what has been a competitive season of CAFL football.

“We have seen a close competition in the Men’s with the top 4 only being decided in the final home and away round of games. Rovers finished minor premiers and will be looking to go back to back after winning in 2017 however all the other finalists will be looking to spoil their party.

“The women’s competition is so even all four clubs have the potential to take it out and the Alkamilya team will be working hard to defend their premiership,” he said

“Our Community and Country leagues and juniors all continue to play exciting and competitive football and their Grand Final day on Sunday 2nd September is a colourful spectacle.

Minahan Medal night will precede the Grand Finals on Wednesday 29 September being held at Alice Springs Convention Centre.
