AFLNT Statement re Tiwi Bombers Round 2 Game

AFLNT wishes to advise that the Tiwi Bombers Football Club has been found to have played an ineligible player in Round 2 of the TIO NTFL 2017/18 Season.

As per AFLNT Rules and Regulations, Section 5.5.1, “a club which permits an unregistered, overage or ineligible player to participate in a match will be deemed to have forfeited that match”.

Player Aaron Daniels was found to be registered to another NTFL Club therefore making him ineligible to play for the Tiwi Bombers FC.

As a result, the Tiwi Bombers have now been deemed to have forfeited this match, the results will be adjusted to show a forfeit and for the purpose of percentage, the scores will be calculated as a 60 point to 0 point win to the Nightcliff FC and reflected accordingly on the NTFL ladder.

Daniels will also be removed from the Tiwi Bombers Round 2 team sheet and will need to apply for a transfer to the Tiwi Bombers if he wishes to play for them in the future.

AFLNT Manager of Community Football and Facilities Russell Jeffrey said ‘We’ve had discussions with the President and Board of the Tiwi Bombers to let them know of the findings and they have accepted the decision’.

Tiwi Bombers Football Club Chairman Gawin Tipiloura said ‘We recognise the mistake that was made and have put measures in place so it will not occur in the future.

‘We are fortunate that we did not lose any points, only percentage. The club has had a promising start to the season and we are looking to continue that’ he said.
