Ex-Swan flies North for Darwin AFL 9s.

AFL Northern Territory’s inaugural Darwin AFL9’s competition continues to gain momentum with national 9’s ambassador and former Sydney Swan Jude Bolton registered for the one day festival.
Bolton, picked up eighth in the 1998 national draft, spent 15 years with the Swans before turning to a career in media with the Weekend Sunrise as well as boundary rider of Channel Seven’s AFL broadcast.
During his 15 years in professional football, Bolton played 325 games for Sydney and holds the record for the most tackles lain by an AFL footballer at 1490.
Happy to see the tropical Top End take on AFL 9’s, Bolton said the laid back Darwin life-style and football crazy population made it the perfect city for an AFL9’s festival.
‘AFL9’s is continuing to expand around Australia with the focus on the social side of football,’ Bolton said.
‘The Darwin Footy Festival is about as relaxed and as social as Australian Football comes, and it’s a great opportunity for those wanting to give the game a go’.
Bolton exemplifies everything that AFL 9’s is all about believes AFL Northern Territory Game development Manager Adam Moedt.
‘A former great of the game embracing recreational football shows local participants that whether you are an elite athlete or giving football a go for the first time, 9’s has something for everyone,’ Moedt said.
The recreational football festival see’s Iconic local football ground Gardens Oval turned into a multi-field precinct with entertainment throughout the day and a player’s lounge on March 28 2015.
