Four young Territorians will spend a week with an AFL club after flying to Melbourne as part of the Boomerangs program.
Rodney Baird, Jeffrey McDonald, Dominic Grant Junior and Byron Cole will all be allocated to either the Collingwood Football Club or the Melbourne Football Club where they will engage in workshops covering various aspects of the game.
AFLNT Talent and Education Manager, Tavis Perry, said the Boomerangs program provides young people with some great opportunities.
“It’s one of the pinnacle programs within the AFL system. This trip will give these guys a first-hand look at what’s required to make it to the AFL, as it focuses on time management, talking to the media and leadership, as well as all the high performance aspects,” Perry said.
'The Boomerangs' is a talent identification program for young indigenous boys.
