Jamieson whistles them up at the 2011 Toyota AFL Grand Final

AFL Juniors Top End green shirt cadet umpire Jamieson Galbraith has packed his bags and has just arrived in Melbourne. He will be umpiring at the MCG on AFL Grand Final Day!

While former 1998/99 NTFL senior field grand final umpire Brett Rosebury is umpiring the big game between Geelong and Collingwood, Jamieson will be nervously waiting in the MCG tunnel as he prepares for the half time siren to sound.
He will then lead 18 NAB AFL Auskick kids onto the hallowed turf of the “G” for the half time grid games. Jamieson has been selected to umpire an NAB AFL Auskick Grid Game at half time during the 2011 Toyota AFL Grand Final by simple umpiring, attending regular training sessions and showing enthusiasm towards his umpiring in the Top End.
As well as umpiring on the hallowed turf of the “G”, Jamieson will also take part in the Grand Final Parade through the streets of Melbourne in front of thousands of fans on Friday, and then following it up with a special guided tour of the National Sports Museum at the MCG.
Jamieson was selected from an elite group of Green Shirt Cadet Umpires who participated in the NT Thunder Junior competitions across Darwin, Palmerston, Rural, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs regions, proof that the Umpiring Development Pathway is alive and well in the Northern Territory.
Jamieson will be joined by father Alister and six other young green shirt umpires from across the country and their families over the three filling days in Melbourne.
If you’re interested in giving umpiring a go for the up-coming NTFL season please contact Mark Noonan at the AFL Northern Territory head office on 8980 4811.
