The NT Junior Green Shirt Umpires have celebrated their graduations over the last two weeks across the Top End and in the Red Centre. They have all successfully completed the National AFL Green Shirt Umpire Mentoring Program in their local regions.

AFL Darwin Juniors and AFL Palmerston and Southern Districts Junior Green Shirt Cadet Umpires celebrated at their graduation with their Mentors on Saturday the 5th of September at TIO Stadium. Whilst the AFL Alice Springs Junior Green Shirt Cadet Umpires celebrated at their graduation with there local Mentors last Friday night at Traeger Park with special guest AFL Field Troy Pannell.
Troy was on hand to help with the presentations to local junior Green Shirt Umpires as a part of his 3 day Umpiring Development visit to the Red Centre. The AFL Junior Green Shirt Cadet Umpires are a part of the AFL’s Umpire Mentoring Program.
The AFL’s Umpire Mentoring Program is an umpire education and development program which aims to use experienced umpires to mentor new and inexperienced junior umpires. Under this program new and inexperienced umpires wear a green coloured shirt to signify that they are learning their craft and are being supported by a mentor.
The green shirt junior umpires received an AFL Umpire Green Shirt Development Program Football and the mentors received an Umpire Development Program USB Key and a certificate of graduation as reward for there services over the season.
I would to say a very big thank you to all the Junior Green Shirt Umpires, Mentors and the AFL Umpiring for the great gifts. The Green Shirt Cadet Program is a great starting point in the new AFL Northern Territory Umpiring Development Pathway (UDP) structure to further your Umpiring.
