South Alice Springs and Rovers emerged as big winners after Round 6 of the Central Australian Football League.
Souths copied their Kangaroos logo by hopping to the top of the senior men's ladder with a hard fought eight-point win over last year's preliminary finalists Federal at Albrecht Oval.
And reigning premier Rovers snapped a three-game losing streak with their 49-point win over West Alice Springs to move into second position on the league ladder.
First year Souths coach Chris Forbes said his side's third win of the season had come down to the players' ability to stick to the pre-match gameplan.
"That was the reason we came out on top against a Feds side that made us work for the win,'' he said.
Forbes was full of praise for his players, reserving a special mention for defenders Shaun Byrne and Michaelis McMasters and a best on ground performance by ruckman David Bray.
Centre half forward Thomas Gorey booted four goals from centre half-forward, while Rob Smith, Deacon Braun and Daniel Stafford kicked two majors.
Federals boss Izaak Ankers conceded his side was a "little off their game'' six games into the 15-game season.
"We were a kick behind them all day and couldn't find a way to get past them, but credit to Louis Egger and Abe Ankers through the middle and Keegan Weily on a wing who were good for us all day.''
Rovers found some winning form against a Wests side that has beaten Federal and Pioneer earlier in the season.
Double Blues coach Danny Measures said the win over Wests proved his side was on the right track towards their premiership defence despite the occasional early season hiccup.
"We know Wests are still getting their side organaised, but I was pleased with the way the players presented over four quarters and used the ball to our advantage,'' he said.
"The game against Pioneer when we had more scoring shots in a 13-point loss should prove to be the turning point in our season.''
Youngsters Jadekyah Evans and Jack Farrell impressed in the win over Wests, while Paddy Doyle at centre half-back and forwards Justin Taylor, Cameron Glover and Tyson Woods were big targets in front of goal.
In the Women's competition Alkamilya remained unbeaten after an 86-point win Souths, while Rovers beat Wests by three goals.
Kaitlyn Armstrong booted five goals in a best on ground performance for Alkamilya, while a familiar Territory football name, Kahlisha Rioli, kicked two goals for the ladder leaders.
Doreena Hansen and Kirstin Remfrey were consistent four-quarter performers for Rovers in their win over a brave Wests side.
In the popular community competition ladder leaders Papunya flexed their muscles against closest rivals Ltyentye Apurte, winning a tight contest by 14 points.
Coach Dalton McDonald praised his players for an "even performance" that saw Papunya win its fifth consecutive game.
In other games Yuendumu eased past Titjikala by 46 points and Engawala lost a thriller at home to Wester Aranda by four points.
Plenty Highway beat the Areyonga Tigers by 41 points and Mt Allan completed the round with a 38-point win over Mutitjulu.
No football will be played next weekend due to the Finke Desert Race, with competition resuming on the weekend of June 18-19.
