2021/22 TIO NTFL MRP Round 5

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel (MRP) has reviewed all matches played in Round 5 of the 2021/22 TIO NTFL season, and the following charges have been laid:

Men’s Premier League
William Rowbottom of Palmerston Magpies Football Club has been charged with striking against #20 of St Mary’s Football Club in the first quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Palmerston Magpies at TIO Oval 2 on Sunday 31 October 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match penalty.

In summary, Rowbottom can accept a one-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Jayden Shae of Palmerston Magpies has been charged with striking against #20 of St Mary’s in the first quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Palmerston Magpies at TIO Oval 2 on Sunday 31 October 2021.

This incident has been referred directly to the Tribunal.

Ryan Smith of St Mary’s has been charged with striking #29 of Palmerston Magpies in the first quarter of the NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Palmerston Magpies at TIO Oval 2 on Sunday 31 October 2021.

This incident has been referred directly to the Tribunal.

Men’s Division 1
Gavin Grenoff of Nightcliff Football Club has been charged with using obscene language towards another person in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between PINT Football Club and Nightcliff at TIO Stadium on Saturday 30 October 2021.

Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct and obscene language, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, Grenoff can accept a two-match penalty with an early guilty plea.

Nathan Russel of Nightcliff has been charged with serious misconduct in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between PINT and Nightcliff at TIO Stadium on Saturday 30 October 2021.

This incident has been referred directly to the Tribunal.

The club/players via the club's tribunal advocate have until 9:00pm tonight (Tuesday) to accept the early plea or lodge an appeal to have the matter heard by an independent Tribunal.

*UPDATE Tuesday 2 November: William Rowbottom of Palmerston Magpies and Gavin Grenoff of Nightcliff accepted their early guilty pleas.
