To our valued stakeholders
As I write this update, I recognise that we are all being tested and impacted in some way, shape or form due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) health crisis. You are all in our thoughts and we send best wishes as you navigate the trials, but I felt it important to update you on news from AFLNT’s end.
Our sport has faced the most extreme challenges in the past week as our community tackles COVID-19.
None of these challenges has been harder than the decision yesterday to temporarily stand down 80% of our core workforce across Australia until at least 31 May.
Our staff are extremely resilient and we are working through these tough times with them. These changes come into effect from Monday 30 March, which means that a number of key actions will follow. These include:
- All AFLNT Offices will close. Any regular deliveries or contacts that you have with our business, please contact us to make alternate arrangements.
- Our main phone numbers will not be monitored – all enquiries will be directed to key emails below:

o Sponsorship/partnership – NTCommercial@afl.com.au
o Community Footy – AFLNT.Football@afl.com.au
o Michael Long Learning & Leadership Centre Academy – mlllc@afl.com.au

- Our programs that have been postponed are as follows:
o Community Footy, including Auskick Centres, (postponed until at least 31 May 2020). Further information here

o Our Thunder Academy program (postponed until at least 31 May 2020). Further information here
o Our Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre (MLLLC) Education Programs and our AFLNT School Programs have ceased until further notice
- AFL Games update. In regard to the two AFL games scheduled for the Northern Territory, we continue to work with the NT Government through the NT Major Events Company on a resolution. Our advice is that whether it be postponement or cancellation, there will be an opportunity for ticket purchasers to hold onto their ticket or request a refund. We appreciate the need for people to plan and hope to have resolution as quickly as possible.
Going forward, we will continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19 very closely and heed the advice of the Australian Government, NT Government and AFL, with everyone’s health and wellbeing being our number one priority.
We will continue to be extremely vigilant as the situation evolves and provide updates as they come to hand.
I would again thank our many stakeholders for the ongoing support we have received during this challenging time. We recognise it has been a tough few days and weeks for everyone.
I particularly want to thank our staff and their families at this tough time for them and wish them all the best over the coming weeks and know that we will all bounce back soon.
