CAFL Country and Community Finals begin this weekend

CAFL Finals

With the last home and away round of the Central Australian Football League (CAFL) town competition being played this Saturday, the CAFL Country League and Community Cup League both begin their finals series on Sunday at TIO Traeger Park.

MacDonnell Districts and Plenty Highway kick off the action at 9am in the Under 18 competition followed by Yuendumu vs Western Aranda before the Community Cup and Country League seniors begin their games in the afternoon.

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) Community Football Manager – Central Australia Darryl Griffiths said he was looking forward to the an action packed Sunday of football.

“Every club is in at least one grade so it’s fantastic to have such a large spread of representation across the clubs at our showcase ground, TIO Traeger Park. The atmosphere is sure to be electric.

“In the Community Cup League our two new teams Willowra and Mt Allan finished on top of the ladder so playing each other in CAFL finals will be a new experience for them.

“In an exciting first, the 2pm Country League game between Yuendumu and Ltyente Apurte will be broadcast live on ICTV which provides remote fans with the ability to watch from wherever they are,” he said.

At the request of the clubs involved, AFLNT has worked hard to allow all games to be played at TIO Traeger Park, which is the venue where the Community Cup and Country League grand finals will be played on Sunday 1 September.
