TIO NTFL Match Review Panel: Round 17

MRP Round 17

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed all matches played in Round 17 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL season and the following charges have been laid in the senior divisions: 

Men’s Premier League

Edward Trupp, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, has been charged with rough conduct on player number 21 of Tiwi Bombers Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Darwin Buffaloes and Tiwi Bombers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 9 February 2019.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Trupp can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Christian Burgess, of Tiwi Bombers Football Club, has been charged with wrestling player number 16 of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Darwin Buffaloes and Tiwi Bombers at TIO Stadium on Saturday 9 February 2019.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as a low level offence, resulting in a one-match penalty.

In summary, Burgess can accept a reprimand as an early guilty plea.

Aaron Davey, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club, has been charged with striking player number 12 of St Mary’s Football Club in the first quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Palmerston Magpies at TIO Stadium on Saturday 9 February 2019.

Based on the umpire’s report, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match penalty.

Due to Davey’s existing bad record (the Player has had two reprimands in the past 12 months) his final penalty was increased to two-matches but he can accept a one-match penalty as an early guilty plea.

Women’s Premier League

Tarmon Elliott, Coach of Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with using abusive, insulting or obscene language towards or in relation to an Umpire in the fourth quarter of the TIO NTFL Women’s Premier League match between PINT and Southern Districts at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 9 February 2019.

Based on the umpire’s report the matter has been referred directly to the Tribunal.  

Tarmon Elliott, Coach of Southern Districts Football Club, has been charged with behaving in an abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene manner towards or in relation to an Umpire after the final siren of the TIO NTFL Women’s Premier League match between PINT and Southern Districts at TIO Oval 2 on Saturday 9 February 2019.

Based on the umpire’s report the matter has been referred directly to the Tribunal.  

Men’s Division 1

Kris Brown, of Palmerston Magpies Football Club, has been charged with rough conduct on player number 28 of St Mary’s Football Club in the second quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 1 match between St Mary’s and Palmerston Magpies at TIO Stadium on Saturday 9 February 2019.

Based on the video evidence available, it was the view of the panel that the incident should be classified as carless conduct, high impact and high contact, resulting in a three-match penalty.

In summary, Brown can accept a two-match penalty as an early guilty plea.

All clubs have until 9pm ACST Tuesday to indicate whether the charged players accept the imposed sanctions or they wish to challenge at Tribunal.
