NTFL Tribunal: Round 15

AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) advises the independent Tribunal sat tonight, Thursday 31 January, to hear two charges from Round 15 of the 2018/19 TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League.

Dionysuis Munkara, of the Tiwi Bombers Buffaloes Football Club, appeared before the Tribunal to answer the charge of striking player number 19 of the Nightcliff Football Club at the end of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between Nightcliff and Tiwi Bombers at PSC BM Oval on Sunday 27 January 2019.

Munkara pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In summary, Munkara was found guilty of striking.

It was a view of the Tribunal that the incident should remain classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact and issued Munkara with a two-match penalty.

In relation to the case, the Tribunal said:

“In relation to the charge of striking the Tribunal found Dion guilty of the charge. The Tribunal applied their discretion under section 2.14 (d) (ii) of the State and Territory Tribunal Guidelines 2018 and were of the opinion that an exceptional circumstance existed in that the offence was committed in response to provocation. And having consideration to all the relevant circumstances it would have been unreasonable to impose a sanction of any other than a two-match sanction.”

Matt Campbell, of Darwin Buffaloes Football Club, appeared before the Tribunal to answer the charge of engaging in rough conduct against player number 3 of the St Mary’s Football Club in the third quarter of the TIO NTFL Men’s Premier League match between St Mary’s and Darwin Buffaloes at TIO Stadium on Friday 25 January 2019.

Campbell pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In summary, Campbell was found guilty of rough conduct.

It was a view of the Tribunal that the incident should remain classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact and issued Campbell with a three-match penalty.

In relation to the case, the Tribunal said:

“In relation to the charge, the Tribunal found Matt guilty of engaging in rough conduct against an opponent which in the circumstances was unreasonable, and imposed a three-match sanction.”

Should the League or any club/player wish to appeal a decision from Tribunal they have until 5pm tomorrow (Friday) to officially lodge it in accordance with the 2018 State & Territory Tribunal Guidelines
